How I work: As a clinical health psychologist, I specialize in addressing the intricate connection between psychological factors and medical conditions in adults (18+). My focus areas include:
Perinatal mood, anxiety, trauma, and adjustment disorders and infertility
Psychological trauma from physical injury or hospitalization
Insomnia/circadian rhythm disorders
Chronic pain and gastrointestinal concerns
Adjustment to illness/ related changes in physical abilities
Behavioral weight management, binge-eating, night eating syndrome
Preparation for/adjustment following surgical procedures (e.g., bariatrics/transplants)
I tailor evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Mindfulness, and Schema Therapy. I am certified in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International and completed training in hypnosis for cancer pain at the Center for Behavioral Oncology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Additionally, my background includes having worked with active military service members and veterans. I am also credentialed through the National Register of Health Service Psychologists and offer services in English and Spanish. I can be reached directly at daisy@nchpsych.com.
About Me: I completed my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA, which included a health psychology internship at the University of Florida, Gainesville. My training spanned a variety of areas including bariatric surgery evaluations; behavioral weight management; behavioral sleep medicine; chronic pain, gastrointestinal, and illness concerns; psycho-oncology; solid organ and bone marrow transplant evaluations; and women’s health and infertility. Postdoctoral training at Jackson Health System in Miami, FL, allowed me to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patients and families coping with hospitalizations, psychological and physical trauma, and life-altering diagnoses. I’ve also worked within the VA healthcare system and for the U.S. Navy (Naval Medical Center Portsmouth), providing psychological care to service members and their families. Moreover, I was the psychologist dedicated to seeing patients (and their families) admitted to the trauma surgery service at Cooper University Hospital, an adult level I and pediatric level II trauma center. Transitioning to private practice enables me to focus on individualized care while balancing time with my family. I enjoy knitting/crocheting items for my daughter, reading, doing yoga and pilates, traveling with my husband, and spending quality time with loved ones.
